About Us
The Student-led Neighbourhood Planning Advice group (SNPA) was established by a group of Sheffield University Planning Students in order to provide Sheffield residents with free advice about Neighbourhood planning.
The group was set up in response to the Localism Bill 2011 which transferred more responsibility for planning at the Neighbourhood level to community groups in the voluntary sector. Click here to learn more about the Localism Bill and to view the document.
We aim to empower communities to shape the future physical development of neighbourhoods and to simultaneously provide Sheffield University students with a unique and innovative form of work experience.
We hope to empower communities in Sheffield by increasing awareness of the various planning powers and tools which they are entitled to use in order to influence development within their neighbourhoods.
We are always open to discussing new opportunities for partnership working! So whether you are a community representative, planning professional or an individual with an interest in pursuing Neighbourhood planning and think we could work together then please do not hesitate to contact the team!
